WELCOME BACK !
A new year, new term and new committee…..
Following the success of the Xmas Fayre Julia Stacey (chair), Amanda Grimes (secretary) and Jackie Brown (committee member) are standing down from the committee.
All three have done a fantastic job over the last 16 months and we would like to thank them all for their hard work and commitment.
We have two new members, Jo Maddock and Jayne Lodge who’s input will be invaluable in preparing for the summer fayre. Your support is always appreciated, so if you can spare time to help out or would like to get more involved – there are some key committee positions to be filled – please fill in the attached slip and return it to the office or contact a member of the committee via the school office. Your contribution, however small, will help ensure the continued success of our social events.
What would you like to fund?
Following the completion of the playground project we are now looking to identify future areas for fundraising. We want to know what you think are the priorities so please spare some time to fill in the attached questionnaire and return it to the school office.
What type of events would you like to attend?
If you have any suggestions for additional events alongside the normal programme of Discos, Film Nights and Fayres then please use the questionnaire to feed back.

It won’t be long before the long hot days of summer will be upon us again! – and so will the fayre…..
Planning will start soon and any help would be much appreciated.
If anyone has any contacts for sponsorship / advertising then please let us know.
EASY FUND RAISING We have found a fundraising website to which hundreds of high street retailers have joined, (including Asda, Argos, Boots, ELC, John Lewis, Tesco, Next, Marks and Spencer and Amazon – to name just a few). They agree to donate to your selected charity every time you purchase online with them. It won’t cost you a penny more then usual, but could generate much needed monies for the school.
As you know, EPSPA are desperately attempting to raise the extra cash needed to help complete the Playground Project this school year. This is in addition to the usual money we raise for photocopying and the upkeep of the animals.
So, please take five minutes to follow these simple steps next time you are at your computer, and get involved in supporting our fantastic school – FOR FREE!
1. Log on to http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk
2. Register yourself as a user, choosing Edwalton Primary School Parents Association as your ‘cause’, and create your own password.
3. That’s it! All you have to do is remember to come via this website each time you shop online, otherwise the donations can’t be made. Have a little look at the list of companies signed up to donate – there are so many, you can even generate donations when you buy things like holidays and insurance and even when using Ebay!
TOP TIPS
Make this website one of your favourites and put it on your toolbar to remind you to use it!
Tell all your friends and family to register and use it too – why not? Remember, it doesn’t cost you a penny!
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Become a committee member
We are always pleased to have new members on board – in fact apart from Jason, the rest of us have only been involved with EPSPA since September 2008, so we are all pretty new to it. None of us knew each other before joining either, so it’s a great way to meet new people and do some good work for your children’s fantastic school. We meet in the evening, maybe once a month, to plan events. As time gets closer to the Summer and Christmas fayres we might have to meet more often.
Become a Class Rep
As a new initiative, we would like to introduce the concept of Class Representatives to the school. Ideally, 2 parents from each class, would volunteer for this role. It would be a great starting point for those of you who would like to help, but without the commitment of joining the Association officially. We would like the whole school to be represented. ‘Class reps’ would act as a ‘go-between’ - relaying information, feed back and ideas between the Parents Association and the parents. This would be done not through formal meetings, but purely chatting in the playground (and probably a few texts)!
Become a helper member
Helper members are essential. We have a list of willing parents who can be contacted as and when, to help with specific tasks. Usually this involves manning a stall for half an hour at a school fayre, selling sweets at a disco or dishing out popcorn at Film Club! If you’re not already on the list and want to be fill out the form below.
None of these roles are a full-time job – it’s just helping as and when you can, as much or as little you want. It can be fun, and very rewarding.
If you want to give it a go, please fill in the form below and hand it in to the School Office. Alternatively if you have any questions come and speak to one of us at school, or phone/text/email Julia on 07776 004154 / juliajstacey@aol.com.
Thank you for your time – and hopefully your support!
P.S This isn’t just open to the ladies – we need dads too!!
PLEASE COMPLETE AND HAND IN AT THE SCHOOL OFFICE, THANK YOU
